Our Wedding

We're getting married!

Our Story

On Sunday, June 7, 2015, Carrie took a chance with a guy she had been talking to online for a few months, meeting Bert for lunch at Las Palmas Mexican Restaurant in Springdale. What both expected to be an hour lunch ended up being over four hours of very natural conversation, as if they had known each other their whole lives. Four days later, they met for dinner at Golden Dragon Restaurant in Springdale, then three days after that they met at Pinnacle Hills Promenade mall in Rogers, wandering around from store to store for several hours. They've been inseparable ever since.

Fast forward to almost two years later, April 30, 2017 : Apparently having an affinity for Sunday events, Bert had to work hard to drag Carrie down to the beach on Okaloosa Island for sunset. Not because she doesn't like sunsets, but because it was very overcast and threatening rain. There was going to be a sunset, but there was no way they were going to see it.  So he dragged her grumbling all the way down to the far west end of the public beach to see the "sunset". Along the way, Carrie noticed a big umbrella set on its side for some other hardy souls willing to brave the weather for the sunset. After getting settled on some towels and enjoying listening to the surf, Carrie suddenly noticed a violin playing. Soon, she recognized it as her favorite song, "Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sheeran. Bert then got up on one knee and asked her to be his wife. Carrie accepted.  While Mother Nature didn't cooperate with the proposal plan, she had indirectly given Carrie and Bert the beach all to themselves, resulting in a private proposal on a very public beach. The only other people in sight were the violinist and her husband, both of whom Bert had been scheming with for months.

Loving the beach as much as they do, it was no surprise Carrie and Bert would set the site of their wedding ceremony along the Gulf of Mexico. They have set the big day for, not Sunday believe it or not, but Saturday, June 9, 2018, at the Navarre Beach Marine Park in Navarre Beach, Florida. They are excited to share the day with any friends or family who make the trek.
While the wedding ceremony itself will be unplugged, we will be using the WedPics app for iPhone and Android for collecting pictures of our big day, bridal showers, and other get-togethers. We would be honored if you would join our WedPics album and submit any pictures you take too.
We have collected some hotels offering special rates for this event, so feel free to find the one that works best for you. Note they are sorted by default based on their proximity to Navarre Beach, where the wedding will be, but we will be staying in Fort Walton Beach. So stay wherever works best for y'all!
Gifts are certainly not expected, but if it's something you wish to do, we have registered at Belk as well as Bed, Bath, and Beyond.
